01 Dec Autumn
Did you get the memo? Capes and ponchos are back this season, but honestly, did they ever leave? They are great additions to any outfit whether it’s a tank top, blouse, sweater, or a dress and a great substitution for your jackets and even coats. Capes and ponchos take wearing layers to a more chic level.
Some of you are probably asking what’s the difference between a cape and a poncho. Essentially they’re similar with some differences–just like anything else right? I could give you the technical definition and say capes are more circular with slits, or openings in the front while ponchos are more square with holes in the center for your head. However, fashion NEVER follows rules and this could lead to confusion when you have brands mixing and matching designs so some capes are cape-ponchos while some ponchos are poncho-capes. Even then you could throw in the name poncho-cardigan.
So WHO cares what you call it! If you know it’s cute then it is cute and you can’t take the fierceness away from the piece itself. The best advice I can give you is to rock your poncho like it’s a cape and rock that cape like its a poncho, okaaaay *snaps*.
But since we are on the subject, I am wearing an open-front poncho (lol another way to confuse you huh?). Regardless of the name, I must say that I accidentally purchased this. I was in Kohl’s–yes, Kohl’s! Don’t sleep on them. They have fab finds on occasions.– But yes, I was in Kohl’s minding my business and I bumped into ths lovely poncho. I generally don’t find many cute things in orange so I could not resist buying this.
My concept for this outfit was to blend in with the autumn leaves. Did I nail it ?
