Cool It Now…

One thing I love most about Fall is piecing different articles of clothing together and making it work. During cooler or colder weather, you are able to see who has a creative sense of style. I say that because when you’re getting dressed, you have to remember to stay warm, BUT you also want to stay in touch with your personal style, so you’re creating outfits to fulfill both needs.

My logic for getting dressed in colder weather is, “how can I stay cute without being cold?”. Let’s take this {pictured} outfit for example. This outfit incorporates a little bit of spring, summer and fall.

I started the outfit with the skater skirt and over the knee boots. Normally, when I wear skirts in the fall or winter, they always are paired with boots, especially over the knee boots. I want to make sure anything that can get cold is covered ^_^.

As I was getting dressed, I thought to add the cardigan to the outfit. At this point I knew I had a burgundy cardigan + cream skirt + black boots combo, so the best top to add to this outfit to be a black shirt, preferably a camisole. The camisole is light enough to wear with the cardigan, it would complement the skirt, and the color would flow with the neutral palette of the base outfit.

So now I have a camisole + skirt combo, but I needed something to piece to two together. Waist belts are generally a good addition to an outfit when your top is tucked in. It gives a equal balance to the top and bottom half of your outfit while making it flow smoothly instead of looking clashed together. And just for kicks and giggles, I added glittery tights simply because glitter makes everything better.

So let’s talk, what’s your logic for getting dressed when it’s cold? Do you put thought into what you wear? Do you start at the bottom and work your way up or do you start at the top and work your way down?

Cute outfit. When I get dressed I look forward to comfort. So I need to step up my game and get more creative for the fall and winter like you said. The photos and scenery looks nice too.
