23 Dec Polar Bear
Hey ya’ll, today I want to talk about a few things in addition to fashion, style, and being fabulous; hopefully you’ll be extremely interested.
First of all, let me fill you in on a little secret, whispering emoji my mom made this faux fur vest. Cute right? I feel like a pretty polar bear, haha. I’ve been dying to wear this ever since she sent it to me for my birthday earlier this month. I finally decided to wear it to this graduation party I attended over the weekend. With Christmas being around the corner, I was feeling a tad bit festive so I incorporated the theme of Christmas in my outfit; hence the white vest, red shirt, and green nail polish. As we know, graduation parties can either be casual dressy or extremely casual so I opted for a happy medium that allowed me to blend in with either crowd.
I had so much fun at the graduation party, it was a little different than the average graduation party. Being my friend is Nigerian, I was able to experience a little of their culture and was able to taste some amazing food :D. Everything I tasted was good and a little spicy if I may add. I was too busy eating to take a picture of the food oops, but I did eat some fried plantains, baked chicken, coconut shrimp rice, jollof rice, and a meat pie. My favorite dish was the puff-puffs. In my opinion, they tasted like funnel cakes shaped into a ball; I feel as if I ate 15 of them before the main course. At the end of the eating and kinda words from her family, everyone danced the night away. If you’ve never heard any Naija music then you should!!! You can’t help but want to dance when you hear it.
One more thing before I go, I’m thinking of doing a section on my blog of where I add some fitness tips. I’m saying that because I’ve lost 10lbs since I’ve started working out. I’m sure you’re saying, “girl you are not big at all”. I’ve never claimed to be “big” or “overweight”, but I know that during my senior year of college I developed bad eating habits and I was letting myself go. I knew it was time to get in the gym when I couldn’t fit my size 7 pants anymore. (If you look at some of my older posts, you can gradually see where my face got chunkier over time). I want to inspire people to lose weight, to tone up, and to be a healthier person. You don’t have to be a size 2 to be healthy. You don’t have to have washboard abs to be in shape. As long as you set a personal goal and you see improvement in yourself and you gain back your confidence, that’s all that you need.
So before I go, let me know how you feel about my outfit, let me know if you’ve ever been to a Nigerian party/gathering/event, and let me know how you choose to be a healthier you. AND be on the look out for my fitness/health tips.
