08 Dec Vintage-y
Heeeeey ! 🙂 So today, I wanted to share with you all some pieces from my closet that are rather vintage-y. If you’ve followed my old blog, then you would have known that I describe my style as a casual chic with a sprinkle of glam; it’s a sexy casual and comfortable all in one.
Thus meaning that I’m not very trendy, but I will pick up a couple of trendy pieces from time to time. Although I am up-to-date on what’s new and “poppin” in the fashion world, I tend to stay in my own lane and create looks that best suit me without looking like everyone else at that moment. I have no problem owning pieces from 10 years ago and recreating looks instead of getting rid of them once they’re “out of style”, ONLY to wait for them to come back around in 5 more years. I am also a pro at making my looks appear to be worth a lot more than I actually spend on them—this all comes from knowing what to invest your money in, as far as expensive pieces go, and knowing how to shop around to get the best deal on something that practically looks like a designer brand.
I say all of this because my leather boots were purchased from Macy’s around my 9th grade year in high school, so that’s about eight years ago, my fur vest was purchased from Papaya around the same year; it still looks good as new, and as far as my sweater goes, I’ve probably had that since high school as well. Although this vest doesn’t look like the most common fur vests we see nowadays, it still looks good. My leather boots still look good as new too. Oh and my purse from Aldo was a birthday gift (last week) from one of my good friends; thanks Sheika!
If you are a responsible fashionista or style guru then it shouldn’t be a reason why your “old, outdated” pieces can’t still look brand new 5+ years later. It also helps if you have an eye for distinguishing “classic” pieces and knowing what will look good when a new trend comes along.
Do you still rock older articles of clothing or shoes? Tell me about it in the comments 🙂
